Had the sad news yesterday from a naturally upset Gary Winsor that they had to say goodbye this morning to the ever gentle 'Willis', who through his whole life never had a cross word with man or beast.
He was Garry and Jackie's first Norwegian Elkhound. He was not destined to be a show dog, but we managed to persuade Gary to show him, and he first stepped in a showring at nearly two years of age, and went on to become a champion.
He was subsequently joined by his paternal half sister Nellie who also became a champion and was Best of Breed at Crufts one year.
As a result of their increased involvement with the breed Gary became involved in the breed club, breed rescue and started judging.
All this following my meeting Gary at Discover Dogs stand in 2000.
