I'm keeping the Genescoper MydogDNA results updated as it needs a place where they can be looked up instead of disappering into the ether.

I do miss the old Multiply site s it had the best aspects of a forum and the interactivity element in places likE Facebook.

Is it worth keeping them on here somewhere Barbara, maybe it is what is wanted to keep this site going?

I do not understand Barbara the site works in exactly the same way as the Multiply site did.Somebody starts a post and others can reply or post their own topic. But with a bit more functionality plus you can store pictures for all to see and other very important searchable data like the DNA results. I was going to pull the plug on it but Michael persuaded me to leave it live. Maybe with the unreliability of the Club website and the confusion over which Facebook group to use for what it may become a viable alternative. Plus there are more members of this forum than they are in the NECGB

I think it was the liking to friends part the way that Facebook does and Multiply did, meant you could easily post things to individuals, chit chat, as well as start proper topics.

No-one has updated show results for ages for example.

Initiailly it was the difficulty of remembering the address, but now I find it comes up easily on google search when I search Elkhounds of the UK, about third one down.

Have to say I don't like the renaming of the GB Facebook page, as it just becomes one other Elkhound group, nothing to make it connected to UK primarily (though others welcome).

Hey I've made more posts than you :)

You can directly send a private message to any member by clicking on your member name Top right on the headings bar This is where your private in box is and from where you can send private messages to other members by typing their member name

The list with all the members user-names is at the bottom of the page next to the "who is online. All you need to do is remember the name. Click on your user-name top right then click "Private message" There you will find all the private messages sent to you.. When you wish to send a PM you click "Personal Message" and the text box appears. In the recipient line start typing the user-name you want to send the message to, ( as you type it will auto complete the user-names matching your letters).

Another similar thing to Multiply is you can create events in the calendar.. You can also display a map which shows you the users location in UK. You can create post headings for any specialist topics so people can find what they want . They do no disappear into cyberspace as in facebook

I sent you a PM did you get it?

Regards

Maybe it was the word 'lovers' at the end that was attracting some undesirable requests to join...!

Barbara try 'bookmarking' the site, sign in...... and not signing out...works for me as when using the bookmark again it takes me straight back in, no need to log in with a password each time.

And you can edit an already submitted message.
