We are now officially exhausted! We have spent the last few days in Belgium attending Kortrijk dog show. This year they laid on 2 shows, consecutive days to celebrate their anniversary. We took Simba 12 ½ yr old , Elsa 11 ½ yr old & Nushka the 10 month puppy. We have managed over the weekend to secure Best Veteran for Simba on both days & BOB on the Sunday, CAC & CACIB for Elsa on both days which now makes her a Belgian Champion! Nushka was Best Junior at both shows & even got the BOB on the Saturday. Elkhounds are such show offs! The weekend has been spent with good friends & lots of dogs doing what we all enjoy.

Congratulations mon amie. Kortrijk is a good show. Pity more of the UK exhibitors are not as adventurous as you two as they love the UK dogs in Europe. European dogs are not schooled in ringcraft and the judges put up with all sorts of behavior. You can see them visually relax when they get to go over a well schooled dog.

bisous

Well done for your week-end travels. Kortrijk is one of the easier and more accessible shows from the Uk ports of Calais, Dunkerque, or the the tunnel (dog stays in the car with you) and a good week-end break. I think the last time we went there was around 2002 and the BOB trophy is still on the shelf. Whether it is me or not I don't know but the shows across the channel seem to be more exhibitor friendly (more costly entries though!) and a good day out, and the Elkie natives there are very friendly and welcoming as well. As Malcolm says a well shown show dog always catches the eye, not to say they don't know how to show their dogs, they do, but we all know a well shown Elkie will always catch the judges eye and give you a fair advantage.
For the sake of a rabies jab and a short wait, wormer to get home it is time we recommenced the invasion of Europe.
