Thunde and Lightning

I was listening to Queen on my travels the other day...thunder & lightening. Now this evening sitting undercover on the patio with the T & L all around I got to wondering about the old myth ... Count the seconds between flash and thunder to ascertain the distance of the storm. Just tried it 5 secs but it was an almighty clap of thunder rlight overhead. Never mind we are keeping Fred happy sitting with him as he does not like T & L.

I do that too. I reckoned our closest was 4 miles away> I have had them literally one on top of the other.

Our lot do not bat an eyelid at the thunder & Lightening. Even with the thunder right overhead they just lay there stretched out, although Keisha will grumble a little at the really loud rumbles. I think she is annoyed she has been woken up.

We often get just the lightening. It is quite sur-real sitting outside and watching the flashes move around you, difficult to estimate how far away they are as no thunder
